Marking win in the race for a vaccine for the global pandemic COVID – 19, Russia today registered the first vaccine offering “sustainable immunity” against the coronavirus, President Vladimir Putin announced. Adding much to the news, it was Putin’s daughter herself who got the dose administered.
“This morning, for the first time in the world, a vaccine against the new coronavirus was registered,” he said during a televised video conference call with government ministers.
“I know that it works quite effectively, forms strong immunity, and I repeat, it has passed all the needed checks,” Putin said speaking at a government meeting on Tuesday, offering a lasting immunity from the coronavirus.
“She’s feeling well and has high number of antibodies,” Putin added. He didn’t specify which of his two daughters — Maria or Katerina — received the vaccine.
The Health Ministry said in Tuesday’s statement that the vaccine is expected to provide immunity from the coronavirus for up to two years.
