Heavy rain lashed several parts of the country disrupting normal life. In Himachal Pradesh, 7 people were killed and several others injured in rain-related incidents due to continuous heavy rainfall for the past 48 hours.
As per media reports, hundreds of vehicles are stranded on roads due to landslides on almost all the major highways of the state. Met Department has warned of heavy rain in low and middle hills today especially in Shimla, Solan, Mandi, and Kangra districts.
In Punjab, an has been sounded in several districts following the release of excess water from Bhakra dam through the spill gates after heavy rainfall in its catchment area.
In Rajasthan, several rivers and dams are overflowing due to incessant rainfall. Chambal River is flowing 12 metres above the danger mark in Dholpur.
Several parts of the Jammu region were also lashed by heavy showers, raising water level in major rivers.
The national capital received light rainfall in the wee hours this morning, bringing respite from the humidity. Intermittent showers all through last night have led to waterlogging in many parts of the city.
Met department has forecast light to moderate rains and thundershowers today. With the Yamuna flowing near the warning level, concerned agencies in Delhi are closely monitoring the situation to deal with possible flooding.
