Bindu Ammini, the Urban Naxal, who was smuggled into the Sabarimala Shrine by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s police in violation of the age-old traditions of the temple, is said to be in distress. Ammini has told a news channel that she plans to seek asylum in a foreign country, as Kerala – the paradise of secularism – isn’t safe. Initially, she was the poster girl for the Communists. She used to grace many a CPI(M)-organized ‘renaissance’ meet as the guest of honor. But her luck ran out after the LDF had bitten the dust in the Lok Sabha elections. Now she is no more invited to any party functions, as her presence brought diminishing returns, say party insiders.
Ammini’s co-traveler to Sabarimala temple Kanaka Durga’s fate is even more pathetic. For her ‘sin’ of entering Sabarimala and hurting the sentiments of millions of Hindus, her husband’s family threw her out. Her husband is also angry with Durga after she manhandled his aged mother. However, Durga chose to lie low unlike Ammini who picked up fights with many.
Some time ago, she entered into a fight with a bus driver. She was miffed that the driver driving the vehicle at a slow speed. Despite her being the provocateur, she manages to come out as a victim, thanks to her friends in the local media infested with Leftists. This time around also, though she was at fault, the scuffle became national news and a lot of sympathies for her.
“It was after I climbed Sabarimala that I was subjected to all these attacks. I don’t say that the latest attack was a result of a plotted one. Whenever they see me they attack: that’s the message that has been passed down. We wax eloquent about the law and order situation in UP. But I never felt intimidated or insecure in UP though people around me knew about my identity when I was putting up there. I have no other go but to seek asylum abroad,” she told a news channel.
She was trying to clutch and kick the alleged assaulter’s private parts. She destroyed his phone by smashing it on the ground. Still, she is playing the victim card…she should not take undue advantage of being a woman
A video that emerged recently showed how she was trying to disrobe a man clad in dhoti in a scuffle and how she destroyed his phone by smashing it on the floor. Although attacking a woman cannot be pardoned in a civilized society, innocents should not be allowed to be punished for a woman’s penchant for publicity. “She was trying to clutch and kick the alleged assaulter’s private parts. She destroyed his phone by smashing it on the ground. Still, she is playing the victim card…she should not take undue advantage of being a woman,” said an eyewitness who doesn’t want to be named. He said she and her friends (who shot the video) seemed to be drunk.
It’s fact that she is hated by Ayyappa devotees across the state for insulting their traditions and sentiments. “Even if she is a victim, nobody has any sympathy for her. She is seen as someone who drove a knife into the hearts of each devotee. She is being promoted by a section of the media and Urban Naxals in the state. Even the CPI(M) is aware of this; that is why they are not forthcoming to defend her,” said Karuna, a BJP activist.
In the latest attack, the alleged assaulter has been identified as Mohandas, a resident of Koyilandy in Kozhikode. The police have filed a case against the man and arrested him.
But Bindu Ammini is not happy. According to her, the police have not done their job well in the previous cases and are working for the Sangh Parivar. But the police dismissed her allegation, saying that the police force cannot work on her dictates. “Our initial investigation found that she was also equally responsible for the ruckus,” said a policeman. According to him, she is indulging in such antics to remain in news.
