Senior BJP leader CK Padmanabhan has issued a statement over Pala Bishop’s ‘Narcotic Jihad’ remark by making his party in trouble. When BJP expressed concern over the Pala Bishop’s remark and sought protection for him, the senior BJP leader stated that the statement of Pala Bishop is not a serious matter of concern.
“There is nothing serious more than using the word ‘Jihad’ while delivering a speech in the church. It is not right to attribute such things to the heads of any particular religious group,” said Padmanabhan.
Triggering a controversy, Pala Bishop Mar Joseph Kallarangat said that Christian girls were falling prey to the alleged love and narcotic jihad in Kerala and wherever arms cannot be used, extremists were using such methods to destroy the youth.
Kerala BJP General Secretary George Kurian on Sunday wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah seeking central intervention to curb jihadi activities and protection to Roman Catholic Bishop of Pala Joseph Kallarangatt and the Christian community based on allegations made by him regarding various kinds of jihad being waged by Islamist elements to entrap non-Muslim youths.
