The Indian wrestling fraternity has been rocked since last week after a junior wrestler was reportedly murdered at the Chhatrasal Stadium in Delhi on Sunday. Meanwhile, renowned Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar has been allegedly linked to the case, as multiple reports have stated his involvement.
While an FIR was filed against him, Sushil had denied involvement in the same. “The incident happened last night, by they weren’t our wrestlers. We gave the information to the police officials that some unknown people had jumped into our premises and started a brawl. However, there is no connection of our stadium with this incident,” he had stated.
Meanwhile, reports state that Sushil has been absconding since the incident and Delhi Police has issued a lookout notice against him. “Several teams have been formed to trace out alleged persons, including Sushil Kumar. We’re probing the role of Sushil Kumar as allegations have been made against him, we sent our team to his house, but he was not found,” said New Delhi’s Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police to ANI.
The incident happened on Monday after a brawl broke out between two groups of wrestlers. Reports have also suggested that shots were fired at each other while a junior wrestler Sagar Kumar was killed in the process.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police has registered the case of murder and the investigation is underway. Five vehicles from outside the venue have been seized while forensic experts are investigating the crime scene.
Also, an arrest has been made in the case, in the form of Prince Dalal, from Haryana’s Jhajjar district, while some double-barrel-loaded guns were recovered from him. Also, an accused named Sonu Mahal is being presumed to be associated with the case, who happens to have a close connection with a gangster named Kala Jathedi.
