The Annual Vital Statistics report of the Kerala government reveals that the Hindu community in the state will become a minority if the present birth rate is taken into account. The Muslim community has taken over the lead in terms of live births registered in the state.
The report titled “Annual Vital Statistics Report 2016” is the compiled set of the vital events reported from the registering authorities and consolidated at district and state levels.
Religion-wise analysis of live births reveals that out of the total 496292 live births 41.88 per cent belong to Hindu community, 42.55 per cent belong to Muslim community and 15.35 per cent belong to the Christian community. 0.04 per cent parents refused to disclose their religion.
