After 10 years of lockup, Kerala Hindu girl who was locked up by her living-in partner met her parents in Vithanassery, a small village near Nenmara on Friday. In a shocking incident, Sajitha had hidden inside her lover’s single room for the last ten years and was found 11 years after a missing complaint was lodged by her family, said reports.
Sanhta and Velayudhan visited their daughter after 10 long years and spent quality time with her. Though she was living next door, it was fate that distanced them from meeting each other.
On Friday morning, Sajitha welcomed her parents to her rented home which they took for rent 3 months back. Sajitha told police the other day that her parents called up to enquire about her well being.
Sajitha’s lover Rahman denied reports of religious conversion and said this is baseless. Sajitha has not converted her religion, he said.
When Sajitha went missing in 2010, her family had filed a complaint. The police investigation did not yield any result. Sajitha was in fact living with Rahman, her lover, next door in a single room, without being noticed by anyone. Rahman had created a small opening in his room through which Sajitha steps out during night for toilet and other needs. Rahman provides lunch and the door of the room remained locked always.
When Rahman went missing in March 2021, his family filed a complaint and he was spotted after 3 months at a police check post by his brother. On further inquiry, he revealed the unbelievable story of living together with Sajitha.
Rahman who met the media on Thursday to allay all doubts, said he had to hide his lover inside his room because he feared his family.
The police and local people reached their rented house and offered all support to their new life. The police also gifted him stove and other household items. Both were happy to lead a happy life in their small dwelling. The local people came out in support of the couple.
