The police are still clueless about the accused in the incident of death of a newborn baby who was found abandoned in Kalluvathukkal in Kerala. As no clear picture on the accused has been obtained, police are gearing up for conducting DNA tests of the suspected persons. 8 persons, who are residents in the area, will undergo DNA tests soon.
A one-day-old baby boy was rescued from a garbage heap, hidden in dry leaves, near Uzhayikkod temple at Kalluvathukkal on January 5. The infant, fully dressed up, was found abandoned by some unknown persons behind a house. The inmates of the house came to know about the presence of the child after he cried non-stop in the early morning.
The baby weighed 3 kilograms and the umbilical cord was still attached when he was found. After being informed by the rescuers, police rushed to the spot and shifted the infant to hospital. He died later the day.
A special team formed under Parippally CI is probing the case and the investigation is progressing based on the phone call details from mobile phone tower locations nearby. The probe is also conducted focussing on nearby hospitals.
Police have collected information from the people who made late night calls. The CCTV visuals from a 3 kilometre periphery of the incident spot were also collected.
As no clear information was being obtained, police decided to conduct DNA tests. Permission for this will soon be sought from them. Police booked case for homicide in connection with the incident.
