This isn’t the first time the United States has made false claims to its partner. If you want to know a fascinating tale in history, let’s go back 50 years. During that period, Pakistan, the largest slave nation of the United States, was hit very hard.
Have you heard of Task Force 74, the American fleet? Task Force 74 existed on two occasions. During the First World War, Task Force 74 was an Allied force formed of Royal Navy, Royal Australian Navy, and US Navy ships that served in the Pacific from 1943 to 1945. The second Task Force 74 was formed from the US Navy’s Seventh Fleet and deployed to the Bay of Bengal during the Indo-Pakistani War in December 1971.
The most significant of these was the USS Enterprise, which the US Navy built. It was the first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier and the longest naval vessel ever built. Perhaps ten additional ships in the Assault Carrier and Destroyer groups following Enterprise. The fleet passed the Straits of Malacca and established a base in the Bay of Bengal in December 1971, at the request of the US government. They were on the verge of attacking India at the moment.
At the beginning of the seventies, India did not possess a nuclear arsenal as there was no considerable thereat for India, so India did not even attempt to become a nuclear power until 1974. In 1971, India found itself precarious due to an intolerable immigrant burden. The United States, the United Kingdom, and China all sided with Pakistan in the oncoming fight. Because the US is a friend of Pakistan, India was sure that the US would not assist us in the Bangladesh war. On August 9, 1971, India signed a ‘Peace and Friendship’ deal with the Soviet Union, laying the groundwork for a spectacular victory three months later in the fight for the liberation of Bangladesh. With the possibility that the US might invade India in mind, The Russians stepped in to assist us when we fell so far behind that we could not catch up.
India’s move was effective, and it was a brilliant idea. The Soviet authorities were acutely aware of the situation, and they began their movement towards the Indian Ocean in the first week of December, witnessing the American advance. The Soviet Navy launched two groups of cruisers and destroyers and a nuclear-armed submarine from Vladivostok on 6 and 13 December 1971; they followed US Task Force 74 into the Indian Ocean from December 18, 1971, to January 7, 1972.
The Soviet Navy battled off Task Force 74 of the US Navy in the Vanguard. Numerous Russian ships and submarines stood in the path, preventing the US Navy from proceeding further than it had already done. The most significant manoeuvre was executed by the Russian submarines. They positioned themselves in front of the USS Enterprise. They opened missile tubes to communicate their intention to strike the USS Enterprise, the world’s largest aircraft carrier.
The United States could not circumvent or attack India due to this direct blockade at sea. As a result, the US failed to keep Pakistan safe. Pakistan’s army agreed to surrender under duress. India partitioned the country and established a new country known as Bangladesh.
During The Bangladesh liberation war, Russia provided us with substantial assistance. That relationship continues today with warmth, mutual respect, and regard for one another.
