Delhi Police Special Cell has arrested a freelance journalist Rajiv Sharma with confidential documents related to the defense of the country. Police had been collecting the call detail record (CDR) of Rajiv’s phone for a long time on the reported suspicious activity.
Rajive Sharma was arrested on 14 September and was produced before the magistrate on 15 September, where he has been sent on six days police remand. Special Cell and other security and intelligence agencies are questioning him and trying to find out what was his intention to collect confidential documents related to the defense of the country, who provided the said documents to him and to whom were those documents to be entrusted.
According to the police, Rajiv Sharma, a resident of Pitampura, Delhi, has worked in several newspapers, news agency and press journal. The police is also keeping a close watch on Rajiv’s close acquaintances to get more details of the case. Many people associated with his network are under suspicion. Some such people have also been questioned. There may be more arrests soon, in this case, suggest reports.
