We have all heard about Nizam of Hyderabad. The Nizams were the 18th-through-20th-century rulers of Hyderabad. Nizam of Hyderabad (Niẓām ul-Mulk, also known as Asaf Jah) was the title of the monarch of the Hyderabad State (as of 2019 divided between the state of Telangana, Hyderabad-Karnataka region of Karnataka and the Marathwada region of Maharashtra).
The infamous mines of Golconda were the major source of wealth for the Nizam’s, with the Kingdom of Hyderabad. However, unlike Thiruvithanmkur kings, Nizam was not using the wealth he looted from India to serve the people, but he lived a luxurious life spending lavishly for everything to please his senses.
A shocking study has emerged where the researcher has found that the great Nizam of Hyderabad used to purchase minor (10-12 year old) Non-Muslim Kalash girls. These girls were abducted from their families and sold to the Nizam as Sex Slaves. These were not dark medieval ages, the report says, but happened in the early 20th century (and late 19th century).
In the article ‘Truth of the Nizam of Hyderabad‘ the author says that the “Kafir” girl was the daughter of a priest. She was abducted by a local Muslim Mehtar of Chitral and sold to the Nizam for 500 rupees. Her parents petitioned the British to return their girl to them. But no help came from the British. Apart from this, shocking revelations are made in the book ‘A Bibliography of Nuristan (Kafiristan) and the Kalash Kafirs of Chitral‘, by Schuyler Jones.
Concubinage in Islam results from the permission in Islamic law for men to have sexual intercourse with the female slaves they own. Legal and literary documents show that those slaves used for sexual service were differentiated at slave markets from those who were intended mainly for domestic services.
These slave girls were called “slaves for pleasure” (muṭʿa, ladhdha) or “slave-girls for sexual intercourse” (jawārī al-waṭ). Many female slaves became concubines to their owners and bore their children. Others were just used for sex before being transferred. The article is a shocking reminder of how Muslim rulers looted and spoiled Hindus.
