Kerala -2019 general elections will sound the death-knell of Communist parties as ‘national parties’.
The Left group of MPs once boasted as many as forty members in Parliament to dictate terms to the Central Government and then Prime Minister Singh. Now, it is reckoned at best to bag four seats.
Notional parties cannot remain national parties in desi political spectrum any longer thanks largely to Modi-era.
Was it the Sabarimala factor that has led to this pass of things?
Was it the polarisation of the anti-Modi strategy of all mahagatbandhan-parties to lead to a perception of the All India 2019-polls being views as a Congress versus BJP contest? Maybe so partly.
There are two other startling open truths which cannot be disregarded in case of the most broad-minded Kerala voter class.
One being that all Christians are going to go out and support Congress party without any hesitation. Two, every Muslim voter is going to cast precious vote for the Congress party as an anti-PM vote.
What are the chances of the BJP itself bagging at least one much publicised seat of Thiruvanathapuram? The incumbent is a ruthless opponent but the Nair community from which he too hails from is with the Lord Swamy Ayyappa and their votes are bound to go the BJP way!
The brightest outcome for the country is not that Congress Chief, Rahul Gandhi is going to come out victorious from Wayannad seat (the predecessor- MP from here had won with a huge thumping record – margin) but that this would herald the ending of communist party being bandied about as a formidable ‘national party’.
They have lost out in states of West Bengal & Tripura. Last bastion of commies in India shall fall.
It is for the BJP to capitalise on this to turn their ground base into BJP supporters rather than letting them walk over into the Congress camp.
EMS Namboodripad shall be fuming in his resting place? Maybe yes.
