As the controversies continue regarding the European Union MPs visit to Kashmir, Former Army Chief and Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways V K Singh said that the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) is a part of India and New Delhi will get control over it.
Mr. Singh also dubbed the criticism of the government by the opposition over the EU delegation’s visit to Kashmir as insignificant. “What is the need to capture it (PoK). PoK is ours. We will get hold on it…,” Singh replied to a query on the sidelines of an event by industry body Assocham.
On the Opposition’s criticism of the government over the EU delegation visiting Kashmir, Singh said; “Apart from opposing, the Opposition doesn’t do anything. They can speak on anything. Let them pass remarks.” The Congress on Tuesday had stepped up its attack on the BJP government for allowing European Union MPs to visit Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the European Union Members of Parliament visiting Kashmir said they support India in its efforts to end terror and termed Article 370 an internal issue of India. Addressing media in Srinagar after visiting Jammu and Kashmir, European lawmakers said they were here to support India’s efforts for lasting peace and ending terror. MP Ryszard Czarnecki said people in Kashmir want peace.
Narrating their observations, one of the delegation members said locals in Kashmir want jobs. The lawmakers regretted the killing of labourers from West Bengal by the terrorists yesterday. The visiting European Union MPs thanked the Central Government and the local administration for their warm hospitality.
