Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Maldives on rejoining the Commonwealth. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, India warmly welcomes Maldives in the Commonwealth and look forward to the Maldives playing a larger role in the comity of nations and realising the full potential as well as aspirations of its people.
Maldives had left the Commonwealth under the previous Yameen administration in October 2016. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed happiness on Uzbekistan joining as Partner Country in the Surajkund Mela.
In a tweet, Mr Modi thanked President Shavkat Mirziyoyev for his leadership on such initiatives that make India-Uzbekistan relations even stronger. The Annual fair was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind yesterday.
