The Mumbai Police on Wednesday arrested a man from Navi Mumbai for posting fake messages on social media that led to huge crowd of migrants outside Bandra Railway station on Tuesday evening.
A channel reporter too along with others have also been booked for fake messages being spread amid lockdown.
The accused, Vinay Dubey, demanded that the Maharashtra government should arrange transportation facilities for stranded migrants to get back to their native land. He also called for nationwide protests if the train services were not made operational till April 18.
Vinay Dubey has been formally arrested by Mumbai police now, under IPC sections 117, 153 A, 188, 269, 270, 505 (2) and Section 3 of The Epidemic Diseases Act. He will be produced before a local court later today.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray warned that nobody will be allowed to play with the sentiments of migrant workers and strict action will be taken against those inciting disturbance of law and order.
