A woman had to give birth in the toilet of Kunnamkulam taluk hospital and her family came up with a complaint against the hospital authorities. The baby has been shifted to a private hospital due to severe infection.
The woman’s family filed complaint with the Health Minister and the DMO alleging medical negligence. The family is struggling with financial crisis. Praveen, the baby’s father, requested the government to bear the cost of the treatment.
The woman was rushed to Kunnamkulam Taluk Hospital on Sunday after experiencing labour pain. But the doctor was unavailable on Sunday. The woman was admitted and treated at the hospital as per the doctor’s direction over phone.
However, the family alleged that the girl did not receive proper care. The hospital authorities were informed that she was in labour but was given an injection to relieve the pain.
The woman saw the baby’s head coming out when she went to the toilet and screamed. The infant was admitted to the intensive care unit following infection but was shifted to a private hospital as the condition worsened.
However, the Kunnamkulam hospital superintendent claimed that there was no lapses on the part of the hospital staff. Thrissur DMO has launched an investigation into the incident.
