The National Commission for Women, NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma today held meeting with Medical Superintendents and Directors of Psychiatric Homes to discuss the various measures taken by hospital authorities for female inmates during the pandemic.
The meeting was aimed at assessing the arrangements made in women wards of Psychiatric homes with an emphasis to improve living conditions of the inmates.
Ms Sharma was apprised of the sanitization facilities provided in women wards, maintaining and adhering to COVID protocols in the premises and availability of sanitary napkins and proper living conditions.
The meeting was attended by Superintendents and Directors of 26 psychiatric homes including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Jharkhand, Nagaland, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Jammu and Kashmir.
In her address, the NCW Chairperson stressed upon the need to keep the inmates in open wards rather than closed wards so that they can stay with their family members.
She also stressed on the need for ensuring that the inmates have Aadhaar cards so that they can be beneficiaries of government’s social security schemes.
