The controversial Life Mission-Red Crescent deal was not granted approval said the Central Government. The government reiterated that the Kerala government did not seek permission of the Union Home Ministry.
Minister of state for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai was replying to K Muraleedharan in the Lok Sabha.
The Ministry of External Affairs had earlier stated that the Life Mission Flat project in collaboration with the UAE Red Crescent required the approval of the Central Government and was not sought by the Government of Kerala. Following this, the Ministry of Home Affairs has now given the statement.
Last month, the Union Ministry of External Affairs explained that the UAE Consulate and construction company Unitac had no authority to contract the project without Centre’s approval.
