Kerala reported 4,470 fresh Covid-19 cases on Thursday, informed Health Minister KK Shailaja. With this, the state has seen a test positivity rate at 8.47 percent.
The district wise distribution of positive cases is: Malappuram – 700, Kozhikode – 578, Ernakulam – 555, Thrissur – 393, Kottayam – 346, Kollam – 305, Alappuzha – 289, Thiruvananthapuram – 282, Palakkad – 212, Idukki – 200, Pathanamthitta – 200, Kannur – 186, Wayanad – 114 and Kasaragod – 110.
52,769 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate is at 8.47 percent. So far, 68,08,399 samples were tested in different priority groups.
26 deaths were confirmed in the state on Thursday by NIV Alappuzha. With this, the total number of coronavirus fatalities rose to 2,533.
Out of the total number of positive cases, 77 people came from outside the state. 3,858 people contracted the virus through contact. The virus source of 498 cases has not been identified.
37 health workers tested COVID positive on Thursday. The district wise cases of Covid positive health workers are: Kannur – 7, Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur – 6 each, Ernakulam – 4, Kollam, Kozhikode, Wayana and Kasaragod – 3 each, Kottayam and Idukki – 1 each.
4,847 people have recovered from the disease. The district wise statistics of negative cases are: Thiruvananthapuram – 302, Kollam – 280, Pathanamthitta – 183, Alappuzha – 208, Kottayam – 312, Idukki – 121, Ernakulam – 649, Thrissur – 638, Palakkad – 263, Malappuram – 680, Kozhikode – 650, Wayanad – 115, Kannur – 292 and Kasaragod – 154.
Currently, there are 59,517 people undergoing treatment in the state. 5,91,845 people have recovered from the disease.
3,16,491 people are under observation across various districts in the state. Out of this, 3,02,567 people are in home/institutional quarantine and 13,954 people are in hospitals. 1,278 people were taken to hospitals on Thursday.
Two new hotspots were identified in the state on Thursday while 1 area was removed from the list. In total, there are 441 hotspots in Kerala.
