Lakshadweep Kavaratti police have registered a case against film activist Aisha Sultana for treason. The case is based on a complaint filed by a BJP president in Lakshadweep against a bio-weapon reference made during a channel discussion. The case has been registered under sections 124 A and 153 B of the Penal Code.
Aisha Sultana made the anti-national remark during a discussion on Media One channel. In Lakshadweep, it was mentioned that the central government was using the corona virus as a biological weapon. Organizations including Yuva Morcha had lodged a complaint with the police against this.
Aisha Sultana came to the scene with an explanation after the complaint and protest were widespread. Aisha explained that she meant the administrator and it was not clear due to a technical problem with the channel.
The Kerala High Court had dismissed the petitions against the guidelines issued by the administrator regarding corona control in Lakshadweep. Despite being aware of the same, Aisha Sultana made a misleading and anti-national remark.
