Attacks on temples by radicals are on the rise in the country. The UP cops arrested one Dilshad who attacked a Hindu temple at Chhibramau, Kannauj district and damaged idols. People caught hold of his accomplice Umar Farooq and handed him over to the police. However, another accomplice managed to flee. Umar told the police that they were instigated to commit the crime by ‘someone’ whose name he did not divulge. The police have started an investigation into the attack.
According to media reports, on Tuesday morning, devotees saw Dilshad and his accomplices shouting ‘Allah-o-Akbar’ and destroying idols. When devotees approached them, they tried to run away. However, Dilsahd was caught and handed over to the police.
The attack triggered a huge protest in the area.
