In an outrageous incident that sparked rage among nationalists in the country, JNU Leftist students wing started a campaign under the hashtag #RejectHindutva against the decision of the university to rename the way to Subansir Hostel as V.D. Savarkar Marg. The left extremist students also defaced V D Savarkar Marg signboard to replace the name with ‘Mohammad Ali Jinnah Marg’ poster alleging the act is not suitable for the principles of secularism.
“We can never ever accept apologists and stooges of the British who undermined our secular fabric. Let’s respect those who gave us our constitution,” reads a Facebook post by JNUSU President Aishe Ghosh. In a Whatsapp message, she said, “Shame on the legacy of JNU that this man’s name has been put in this university.”
“Never did the university had space for Savarkar and his stooges and never will it have!” she added, followed by hashtag #RejectHindutva.
According to the picture shared by Aishe, a new board has been erected in JNU which names a road in the varsity as V.D. Savarkar Marg which is now defaced and renamed as ‘Mohammad Ali Jinnah Marg’.
