While the death of the tribal police constable in the Kerala AR camp still remains a mystery, his wife has come up with serious allegations of severe caste discrimination in the AR Camp. The revelations lead to shocking facts of caste discriminations in the police camp. This has further demeaned the already-tarnished reputation of the chief-minister controlled police department.
Sajini, the wife of Kumar who belongs to Scheduled Tribe, said that her husband was mentally tortured over his caste by officials including seniors at the AR Camp. “Because he belongs to a tribal group, he was insulted in the camp. He used to complain that he was mentally tortured and forced to work overtime,” alleged his wife in an interview. She also says that he was given with extra load of work by his superiors.
Kumar, a native of Attappadi, a tribal village in Kerala, was found dead on a railway track near Lakkidi two days ago. Shoranur police have registered a case on unnatural death and the probe is on. Responding to the allegation Palakkad district police chief stated that he was not aware of the caste discrimination in the AR Camp. He also said that Kumar had some psychological issues.
