Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today said that the government is committed towards responsible usage of public money and mistakes of previous governments about splurging will not be repeated. She was addressing members of corporate India at an event organized by FICCI in New Delhi.
The Finance Minister said that spending proposed in the Budget 2020-21 has been done with a clear picture of asset creation. Ms Sitharaman while addressing the gathering emphasized that the government is focused on infrastructure development and ethical wealth creation. She said, money garnered from the divestment would be used in the creation of infrastructure development which would have a multiplier effect in generating new and more jobs for youngsters.
Speaking on the occasion, Ms Sitharaman also said that the government’s proposal to introduce taxpayers charter is a method to establish a strong bond of trust between the taxpayer and the government.
