The ‘famed’ town in Kannur district of Kerala is in focus once again! However, this time, it is not about a politician who was made CM by the party after gathering votes in the name of former chief minister Achyudanantan, but for a chicken that ‘delivered’ a baby.
What happened in Pinarayi Vendutta was the rarity that the chicken ‘gave birth’. The mother hen ‘gave birth’ at Rajina’s house. Many people came to Rajina’s house after hearing the news
Rejina received hens under the Welfare Fund Scheme for Beedi Workers. They say that two yolks are often found in a chicken egg and that the eggs are larger than normal. After the ‘calving’, the hen bled and died shortly after.
As per reports the embryo present inside the mother was not covered by a shell. When the embryo develops and reaches a certain time, the body naturally tries to expel it. The incubation period of eggs is 21 days.
Only further investigation would throw light upon the reasons behind this rare phenomenon, said Dr. R. Rajan, Retd. District Animal Husbandry Officer.
