Mizoram Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai demanded that the cases charged against the devotees in connection with the Sabarimala women entry issue should be immediately withdrawn.
NSS took a sincere stand on Sabarimala issue while Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala ran away from the protest venue. Ramesh Chennithala had started hunger strike in the name of Sabarimala issue and ended it within a week. He withdrew from protest then and now blames the government, Sreedharan Pillai said during an interview with Mathrubhumi News.
Non-bailable offences were charged against the people who engaged in Namajapa rally. It was a misuse of Constitution and IPC, Sreedharan Pillai alleged.
A Kollam native leader of the ruling party, who is also an advocate, had filed a case in Bar Council to cancel my sanad (license to practice) stating that being a senior advocate I protested against the Supreme Court verdict. It was accepted in file and a notice was served. I had filed a response to it and by the time I was appointed as the Governor of Mizoram, Sreedharan Pillai said.
