In a shocking incident, Christian missionaries buried dead bodies near a temple in Tamil Nadu. Police have registered a case against 13 people in connection with a complaint lodged by a Hindu organization. The incident took place in Villupuram village.
Bodies were buried near the 800-year-old Jinji Fort temple, which is devoid of daily worship. Apart from this, crosses are also painted on the walls of the temple. This is considered to be a move to take over the temple and its surroundings.
Jinji Fort is a historical site located in the village of Villupuram. The place was first captured by the Marathas from the Mughals. Aurangzeb’s troops later captured the place from them. The temple was built inside the fort during the reign of the Madurai Nayaka dynasty.
At first, there was pooja and worship but gradually all this ceased. Despite its historical significance, governments have not yet taken any steps to protect Jinji Fort. Hindu organizations have been repeatedly approaching the local government to renovate the temple, however, no actions have been taken.
