The State Child Rights Commission member Renee Antony has ordered to pay Rs 50,000 from salaries of teachers as compensation to a student for making a serious mistake in the evaluation of Plus Two examination papers. The order was issued following a complaint lodged with the commission by R Podimon, father of JP Pooja, a Plus Two student of Thodiyoor Govt Higher Secondary School in Karunagapally.
The examination papers were evaluated by the Chief Examiner of Malappuram BHSS School, P. Rafeeq, and Benazir Fahima, Asst. Examiner KG, Govt. Higher Secondary School, Tirurangadi. The order is to pay Rs 25000 from the salaries of both.
The complaint was lodged regarding the evaluation of the examination papers for the 2018-2019 academic year. The child who was expecting A + in all the subjects got a B plus. When the copy of the examination paper was received, it was 65 marks on the score sheet. But the total mark was given as 43. 72 marks. On re-evaluation, the paper obtained 72 marks.
In an investigation by the examination section joint director, the teachers were found guilty. The order was issued under Section 15 of the Commission for the Protection of the Rights of the Child Act 2005 as the offenses violated the laws relating to the rights of the child.
