The Enforcement Directorate has served another notice to CM Raveendran, additional private secretary to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, here on Wednesday. Raveendran has been asked to appear for interrogation on Friday. However, he got hospitalised again complaining of ‘post-covid problems’.
Earlier ED had summoned Raveendran for interrogation. But Raveendran failed to appear as he tested COVID positive. He informed this matter to ED with valid documents. ED has served fresh notice to Raveendran after he recovered from the infection and was discharged from the hospital.
Raveendran is the second higher official from the CM’s office who is facing interrogation over the gold smuggling case.
ED has informed the court that Sivasankar’s team which is present in CM’s office was aware of the gold smuggling. In this background, Raveendran’s interrogation will be crucial in the case.
Earlier, ED has arrested M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to CM, over the gold smuggling case. He is currently lodged in jail here.
CM Raveendran is one among the Chief Minister’s loyal officers. Responding to the ED’s notice to Raveendran, CM stated that a person should not be considered a culprit merely facing interrogation.
