The Enforcement Directorate has stated that it has not violated the rights of the Legislative Assembly. The statement was made in a letter sent to the Legislative Assembly secretary in response to the complaint regarding the Life mission project.
The Privileges and Ethics Committee of the Assembly had sought an explanation from ED after James Mathew MLA filed a complaint. The MLA complained that ED is trying to sabotage the Life Mission project across the state. Speaker Sreeramakrishnan sent this complaint to the consideration of the Privileges and Ethics Committee. Following this, the committee sought an explanation from ED Assistant Director P Radhakrishnan.
ED stated in response that it has not tried to intervene in the power of the Legislative Assembly in any manner. ED has the legal authority to ask for the files related to the case. The financial transactions of the accused are suspicious. The files were asked to be submitted in these circumstances. ED also requested to refrain from any kind of action that will not be legally sustainable.
