While Kerala is witnessing protests that has converted the state into a battle field, an image has surfaced in the internet that is apparently similar to that of what we have seen in the US when a 46-year-old black American man, was killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during an arrest for allegedly using a counterfeit bill.
When the government uses police force to suppress the ongoing protests, brutal attacks are made on protesters who seek action against the culprits. A recent image appeared in the media shows a policeman sitting over man to pave way to KT Jaleel whom the Enforcement officials questions two days ago.
The social media is reminding what George Floyd said when a policeman pressed his knee upon the neck that ‘I’m short of breath’!
This picture was taken by Malayala Manorama Chief Photographer Joskutty Panakkal. The photo was shared extensively by political leaders and media persons. As per reports, the policeman released the protester only after the vehicle of Minister KT Jaleel escaped the venue.
In similar incidents, BJP, Yuva Morcha activists were also brutally attacked by police forces. The police used water cannons at youth congress activists when they tried to topple the barricade in front of the Secretariat and then tear gas when they failed to disperse from there.
