Two people were killed in Bengaluru after police opened fire as clashes broke out in parts of the city on Tuesday night after a youth allegedly posted derogatory content inciting hatred on Facebook.
The violence broke out in Pulakeshinagar after an angry mob, disturbed over a derogatory post uploaded on social media by a relative of MLA Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy on Tuesday night, went on a rampage.
The mob gathered outside the MLA’s house and burnt down the vehicles parked outside his house in Kaval Byrasandra.The post is said to have triggered communal violence in East Bengaluru.
Around 1,000 people gathered outside the KG Halli police station demanding the police take immediate action against the MLA’s relative, P Naveen for uploading the post on social media.
According to the sources, after Naveen posted the derogatory image on social media, a group of people visited the police station to file a complaint against him where the police allegedly asked them to talk and sort it out.
