The Kerala Cabinet on Wednesday approved to increase the bus fare in the state.
The minimum fare for 2.5 km is fixed at Rs 8. Earlier the minimum distance was 5 km for Rs 8. The fare has been increased only till the period of coronavirus crisis.
According to the new system, to travel 5 km distance, the fare will be Rs 10. Beyond the minimum distance, 90 paisa per km will be charged.
At the time of the lockdown, the minimum ticket price was increased to Rs 12, but it was withdrawn due to restrictions on the number of passengers. With this, private buses in the state have collectively reduced services.
