Makeup artist and trans-woman Seema Vineet has made a scathing attack on CPI(M) leader and television personality Mala Parvathi for not inculcating in her son the progressive and liberal values she preaches for others. Seema was referring to ‘sexually explicit messages and vulgar photos’ sent to her personal WhatsApp account by Parvathi’s son and SFI leader Ananthakrishnan. Parvathi, an actor and women’s rights activist, has been vocal in demanding the entry of young women in Sabarimala and defending the misdeeds of Pinarayi Vijayan government.
Seema, in a Facebook post, slammed Parvathi for poor upbringing of her son. “You have grown (in stature) but you forgot to bring up your son well,” she said. Seema shared on her Facebook page screenshots of vulgar messages and photos sent to her by the pervert since 2017.
After Seema levelled the allegations, Parvathi tendered an apology on behalf of her son. Responding to this, Seema wrote: “You sought my apology. I respect that. But it is not you who should seek my apologies. It is your son who has done these (perverted) acts. He should have sought the apology… One apology cannot assuage the sense of hurt on a person’s self-esteem. My self-esteem has been questioned. How audaciously had this Ananthakrishnan sent me such vulgar messages! He has hurt me and my gender.”
On why she has decided to come out publicly, Seema writes: “If I hide the mistakes committed by your son, it would be like surrendering all my self-respect and pride before (your) fame. It should not be allowed to be repeated… I am a transwoman. I also have self-respect. I won’t allow anyone to question my sexuality.”
