The depression over East-central and adjoining South-east Arabian Sea moved North-northwestwards with a speed of 13 kmph during past six hours. Indian Meteorology Department said, the depression is very likely to intensify into a Deep Depression over East-central and the adjoining Southeast Arabian Sea during next six hours and further convert into a Cyclonic Storm over Arabian Sea during the subsequent 24 hours.
The release said that the depression layed centered around about 340 kilometres southwest of Panjim (Goa), 630 kilometres south-southwest of Mumbai and 850 kilometres south-southwest of Surat (Gujarat). It is also very likely to move nearly northwards initially till 2nd June morning and then recurve north-northeastwards and cross north Maharashtra and south Gujarat coasts between Harihareshwar (in Raigad district of Maharashtra) and Daman during the afternoon of 3rd June.
The IMD has warned of light to moderate rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over south Konkan today while light to moderate rainfall at most places with isolated heavy to very heavy falls over Konkan on 2nd and 3rd of June and extremely heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over north Konkan on 3rd and 4th of June.
Squally wind, speed gusting to 65 kmph, is prevailing and likely to become 70 kmph over East-central and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea during next 48 hours. It will gradually increase becoming Gale wind speed gusting to 80 kmph over east-central Arabian Sea and along and off south Maharashtra tomorrow morning and further becoming 125 kmph over east-central and northeast Arabian Sea along and off Maharashtra coast (Raigad, Mumbai, Palghar, Thane).
The Sea condition is very likely to be rough to very rough over Arabian Sea during next 48 hours and therefore fishermen are advised not to venture into southeast Arabian Sea.
