The Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS), the RSS’ highest decision-making body, which was scheduled to start from March 14 has been called off on account of COVID-19. The decision has been taken to help prevent spread of coronavirus. Various government and private agencies have cancelled all conferences and meetings to encourage social distancing, a sure shot method of preventing spread. ABPS meets every year for three days in the month of March.
Commenting on the reasons for the cancellation of ABPS, RSS sarkaryavah Bhayyaji Joshi stated: “In view of the seriousness of the pandemic COVID-19 and in the light of instructions and advisories thereof issued by the Union and State governments, the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) meeting scheduled in Bengaluru has been suspended. All swayamsevaks should cooperate with the administrations to create awareness among public and to face this challenge successfully.”
Senior RSS leader J Nandakumar tweeted: “In view of unfolding severe impact of COVID-19, @RSSorg has decided to cancel #ABPS slated to start tomorrow. RSS urges all citizens to join in this fight against COVID.”
