The controversial Islamist and chief of Muslim Education Society, Dr Fasal Gafoor — who recently said that the anti-CAA protests would move to the next level for which the Islamists have amassed weapons and are waiting for the right time to charge at rivals – has revealed that all Malayalam channels and top journalists support their agenda and are toeing an anti-BJP line. He was speaking at a meeting organised by the Muslim League on March 8 in Malappuram.
Commenting about national med, Gafoor said, “With them there is this dirty man called Arnab Goswami.” He praised Rajdeep Sardesai, Karan Thappar for giving a good fight to the BJP at the national level.
Gafoor thanked the Malayalam media for supporting the Islamic agenda. “There are no one on the other side. Venu of Mathrubhumi. Vinu of Asianet. Suresh of Asianet. I know them because I go to TV debates. Media One’s Abhilash. Our strategy is different from that of the Muslim League which has a mass base. We run colleges and schools. Youth come there. If their (Sangh Parivar’s) units are started there, it would be a big problem. So we take them to address these youngsters who are under some influence.”
There has been a complaint that how MSF is using its institutions to push the Islamic agenda. Gafoor who used to masquerade as a ‘secular’ Muslim has shed all his pretensions and openly supporting the Popular Front. In one of PFI functions he said Muslims to capture power in India, they should keep Hindus divided and Muslims united. Belting out statistics, he said it PFI manages to build a strong leadership, then Muslims can easily become rulers of India.
Despite his provocative statements, the CPI(M)-led state government has not shown the courage to arrest the Islamist.
