In Maharashtra, the political impasse continues and the picture about the government formation in the state is not yet clear.
The Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has now invited Sharad Pawar-led NCP to stake government after Shiv Sena failed to submit a letter of support from NCP and Congress within 7:30 pm. The governor’s decision came after Uddhav Thackeray’s son Aaditya sought three more days to prove majority. However, the Governor rejected their demand.
Earlier in the evening, the Shiv Sena staked claim to form the new government. A delegation of Shiv Sena led by the leader of the legislature party Eknath Shinde, Thackeray scion Aaditya Thackeray and other party leaders met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari at Raj Bhawan in Mumbai this evening.
The delegation expressed willingness to form a government but asked for 48 hours time to complete formalities. Earlier in the day, series of prolong meetings of Congress, NCP and Shivsena were held in Mumbai and Delhi over the formation of the new coalition government led by Shivsena.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena leader Arvind Sawant today resigned as Union Minister in the BJP-led NDA Government. Talking to media in New Delhi, Mr Sawant said, he sent his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
