In a major move after adding the provision to declare a person as terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Amendment Bill 2019, India’s most wanted Dawood Ibrahim, Hafiz Saeed, Zaki-ur-Rahman Lakhvi and Masood Azhar have been declared terrorists.
In a notification, Home Ministry said, all these were involved in terrorist activities. Our correspondent reports that the declaration of these most wanted men as individual terrorists is the first under the new anti-terror law.
While Masood Azhar is designated as a global terrorist by the United Nations on the 1st of May this year, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi were designated as global terrorists in 2008. Dawood Ibrahim who is also designated as a Global terrorist by the United Nations executed a series of bomb blasts with his associates in Mumbai in March 1993.
Azhar’s name the first in the list followed by Saeed, Lakhvi and Dawood, according to the notification issued by Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). All the four persons, the government has said, has been holed up in Pakistan and enjoy the state patronage.
