According to reports, Linda Yaccarino, the head of advertising at NBCUniversal, has been appointed as the new CEO of Twitter. This news was confirmed by none other than Elon Musk, who expressed excitement in welcoming Yaccarino as the new CEO of the social media platform.
Yaccarino has been with NBCUniversal for more than ten years, where she has been instrumental in finding better ways to measure the effectiveness of advertising. As head of NBCU’s advertising sales, she played a crucial role in the launch of the company’s ad-supported Peacock streaming service.
With 19 years of experience at Turner Entertainment, Yaccarino has been credited with modernizing the network’s ad sales operation, making it more digitally focused. She is a Penn State University alumna, having studied liberal arts and telecommunications.
Yaccarino recently interviewed Elon Musk at an advertising conference in Miami, where she praised his work ethic and encouraged the audience to welcome him with applause.
If Yaccarino does take up the position of Twitter’s CEO, it would be another big blow for NBCUniversal, following the recent departure of its CEO Jeff Shell after an inappropriate relationship with a woman in the company was brought to light.
