West Bengal Government has declared a State holiday on the occasion of Doctors Day today. Doctors Day is celebrated on this day each year on the occasion of the birthday of noted Physician and former Chief Minister of West Bengal Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. AIR Correspondent reports that for the first time the West Bengal Government has announced a State holiday on Doctors Day.
The Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that the decision has been taken as a mark of respect for the Medical professionals and other frontline workers who are putting their lives at stake for fighting against Corona . She also urged the Centre and other States to declare holiday on this day each year to offer tribute to their sacrifices.
On the occasion of Doctors Day the State Government will introduce telemedicine facility in Kolkata and other places where patients can seek medical advice through Telephone.
