Union Government has deputed 30 Additional Secretaries and Joint Secretaries to assist the State Governments in the effective management of COVID-19. They will be deputed to the states and will work in close coordination with the state authorities for coordinating the preparedness and response measures. An orientation meeting of all the officers is being held tomorrow.
The decision was taken at a review meeting chaired by Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba in New Delhi today. During the review meeting, he emphasized the implementation of Social Distancing measures as detailed by the guidelines of the Health Ministry.
He stated that social distancing would have a major impact in limiting the spread of the disease. He also reviewed the preparedness of various states for quarantine facilities, hospital management and awareness campaigns.
