Today is the International Day of the Book. India’s premier book publishers Penguin Random House India organised an event in DLF City to celebrate the World Book Day.
A day remarked by the United Nations, World Book Day commemorates the importance of reading, publishing and copyrights- all essential elements to books.
Tying the day to Penguin’s goals to inspire, inform and entertain with books, the publishing house launches a brand new campaign, titled #ReadAPenguin. In addition to a thrilling day-long program, the people in the city will experience the iconic Penguin Tent, making its first appearance away from the Jaipur Literature Festival in Jaipur in the form of the #PenguinReadingRoom. Designed in partnership with Pepperfry, India’s leading online retailer of furniture and home products, to resemble a book lover’s haven, this tent will give book lovers the chance to interact with books like never before. The team from Crossword bookstores also comes on board to sell books at attractive, special prices for the day.
Beckoning people to participate and show off their love for all things books, Penguin will host quiz competitions in DLF Cyber Hub with a chance to win cool Penguin merchandise. There will also be on ground art contests in collaboration with The Art Floor, which will be judged by Devangana Dash, author of The Jungle Radio and one of Penguin’s newest children’s writers. The evening will bring in an electrifying performance by singer/ songwriter Nisa Shetty with classic and popular jazz numbers to enthrall the audience.
Penguin will host a panel discussion #WHYWEREAD in partnership with City Book Leaders, with some of the most popular authors from Penguin India- Gurmehar Kaur, Divya Dutta, Ravinder Singh, Amit Lodha and the iconic Hindi novelist, Surendra Mohan Pathak.
