Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s statements in the Assembly regarding private participation for the development of Thiruvananthapuram airport are baseless, said Union Minister of State for External Affairs V. Muraleedharan.
After taking part in the auction, the CM is raising a strange allegation that handing over the operational responsibilities of the airport was not right. The airport was handed over to Adani group as they quoted the highest amount, he said.
The state government’s Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) quoted Rs 135 crore while Adani group quoted Rs 168 crore. The auction process was very transparent, V. Muraleedharan added.
There were allegations that KSIDC’s proposal was prepared by a company run by a kin of Adani. The CM should clarify why the government formed a new company instead of letting CIAL, which has experience of running the Kochi international airport, take part in the auction the Union Minister demanded.
Pinarayi Vijayan should investigate if his former principal secretary M. Sivasankar and others were behind this move instead of blaming the Centre and misleading the public, he said.
We must remember that the managing director of Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) had held a press conference to disclose details of irregularities in the corporation. The Kerala government, which cannot even run the public transport system properly, criticising the Centre over running an airport is absurd, added the Union Minister.
