As the relationship between India and Pakistan has reached its worst times, an interesting yet shocking report from ‘God’s Own Country’ that questions our conscience. Though there are a number of places such as Ghasa street etc., there are a few more places in Kerala that are notorious for its name derived from Pakistan. Surprisingly the official records also carry these controversial names.
The places such as Pakistan Mukku (Pakistan Junction), Pakistan Road, Pakistan Peedika (Pakistan Market) are located within the state. While Pakistan Road is located in Thrissur district, Pakistan Peedika is located in Kannur District and Pakistan Mukku in the capital city Thiruvananthapuram.
However, for the people of Kerala, the names do not bring any surprise. There are a number of incidents where the Muslims in the state has shown their affiliation to the neighbouring country Pakistan. There are incidents reported from the Kasaragod located in northern Kerala when people celebrate the victory of Pakistan team in India-Pak cricket matches.
