Shocking visual that questions the very human conscience is surfacing on the internet which shows a Nilgai (Blue Bull) being buried alive in Bihar. As per reports, a number of nilgai were shot by shooters of forest department in Vaishali district of Bihar.
As per reports, 300 nilgais are killed in a short span of 3 days in the region. Though most of the innocent animals were dead on the spot, the injured were buried alive using earthmovers. The video of Nilgais being buried alive has drawn widespread condemnation.
A Police investigation on the incident has been announced while the officials have sought clarification from forest department officials to take action on the people responsible for the live burial, said Vaishali SP Manavjit Singh Dhillon.
The nilgai or blue is the largest Asian antelope and is endemic to the Indian subcontinent. The species is categorised as of Least Concern by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural resources.
In India it is protected under Schedule III of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972.
