The Tamil Nadu Government has announced a tariff package for Covid-19 treatment in private hospitals under the state health insurance scheme.
The rate for the ‘Intensive Care Unit with all facilities,’ ranges from Rs. 9,000 to Rs. 15,000 a day.
For General Ward, the rate is capped at five thousand rupees a day. 25 per cent of the available beds in the hospitals enlisted under the health insurance scheme need to be earmarked for Covid-19 treatment.
The government has said in a release, the patients should be given cashless treatment as the expenses will be reimbursed to the hospital.
A helpline has been established for registering any complaints or availing any assistance.
In Chennai, 140 police personnel who turned Covid-19 positive reported back to duty after getting recovered.
The city police commissioner AK Viswanathan told reporters in Chennai today, the men and women in uniform are serving as the frontline warriors against the pandemic with renewed commitment.
Meanwhile, the Covid-19 patients recovery rate has improved to nearly 55.5 percent in the state and the fatality rate remains well within 0.8 per cent.
Today, a record 1384 new Covid-19 cases were reported in the state, which is the highest ever single-day spike, surging the total count to 27,256. The number of people tested today also has peaked to 15,991.
In the last 24-hours, 12 people succumbed to the disease, taking the toll to 220, all of them with co-morbidity conditions.
However, the active cases in the state is 12132, as per the state health department medical bulletin. Chennai alone has reported 1072 new cases today.
The Chennai Corporation has warned business establishments of legal action if the cured Covid-19 patients are not permitted to resume their works.
Talking to reporters in the state capital, the city civic body Commissioner Prakash said, violation of safety instructions has been noticed in the case of some of the asymptomatic persons with the infection, who were allowed to remain under home quarantine.
As such incidences expose others to danger, he said the violators will be shifted to institutional quarantine besides initiating action.
He said in the corporation wards where the infection is being reported in large numbers, cluster containment is being enforced while in other streets where isolated cases are reported, the particular house only is being brought under containment regulations to minimize discomfort for the general public.
