Despite swearing that religion has a place beyond the walls of politics, political parties are using violence as a weapon and shield in the gold smuggling case. The allegations in the gold smuggling case are linked to the distribution of the Qur’an.
The BJP is against the distribution of the Qur’an, however Pinarayi Vijayan said he can’t understand why the Congress and the Muslim League are oppose this. The very title of the article written by State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan in party newspaper reads ‘Insult to the Qur’an?’
In the article, Kodiyeri accused that there are efforts to disregard Qur’an and he said CPIM believes that ‘no religious text should be disregarded’ so. In a nutshell, finding no other ways to defend the allegations, it is clear that CPIM that is notorious for its stances against Hindu religion has taken up Qur’an to protect themselves.
The Muslim League was the first to respond to this. The League leaders responded by saying that Minister Jaleel was under suspicion of smuggling the Qur’an under the guise of smuggling. Senior leader Kunhalikkutty warned the government against fooling people by dragging the name of a religious text.
