Subrahmanian Swami today sparked another controversy in Twitter sharing cartoon mocking at government’s decision to build new Parliament House spending 971 crore rupees. The tweet has invited stringent criticism from various quarters, while there are retweets expressing support for the new parliament too.
The cartoon shows a man questioning the government for the hike in petrol price whereas person representing NITI Ayog throws back another question about how the government will find the money for running the country. However, when the man asks why the government is spending 971 crores on the new parliament building, the angry NITI Ayog yelling at PM Modi that this is ‘too much democracy’.
Twitteritis have come up supporting the government saying that the present parliament house was constructed by colonisers and having a better building for parliament will show our evolution as an independent nation and send a signal of our capabilities. People have also come up saying money that comes from petroleum doesn’t go only in constructing the building.
