Kerala recorded 6,676 new Covid-19 cases on Monday, informed the health department in a press release. With 60 new fatalities, the death toll mounted to 26,925. The test positivity rate was recorded at 9.72 percent. A total of 68,668 samples have been tested in the last 24 hours.
The district-wise statistics of positive cases: Ernakulam-1,199, Thiruvananthapuram-869, Kozhikode-761, Thrissur-732, Kollam-455, Kannur-436, Malappuram-356, Kottayam- 350, Palakkad-327, Alappuzha-316, Idukki-268 and Kasaragod-148.
The local bodies have been categorised on the basis of the weekly infection population ratio (WIPR). WIPR is above 10 in 211 wards of 158 local self-government bodies. Strict restriction is in place in these wards.
3,02,818 people are currently under observation in the state. Out of this, 2,92,736 people are under home/institutional quarantine and 10,082 people are in hospitals. 634 people were taken to hospitals on Monday. As many as 34 of the new Covid-19 patients were returned from outside the state. 6,331people contracted the virus through contact. The infection source of 267 patients remains unidentified. 44 health workers also tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, 11,023 recoveries were also reported in the state. The district-wise statistics of recoveries:
Thiruvananthapuram –1174, Kollam-1010, Pathanamthitta-603, Alappuzha-404, Kottayam-1,079, Idukki-430, Ernakulam-1015, Thrissur-1602, Palakkad-781, Malappuram-790, Kozhikode-1011, Wayanad-367, Kannur-611 and Kasaragod-146.
With this, a total of 47,50,293 people have been recovered from the disease so far.
